After breezing through the first two rounds of the Class AA state singles tournament last Thursday, Mounds View High School junior Summer Brills was two wins away from a state championship.
A pair of second-place finishes was good enough to get both cross country teams from Mounds View High School to Saturday's state meet. The top two teams in each section qualify for the state competition.
After nine consecutive games against Suburban East Conference opponents this season, the Mounds View High School football team gets to play a team from outside the SEC this week.
Hill-Murray 30 - Harding 13
The Hill-Murray Pioneers hosted the Harding Knights Oct. 27 in semifinal action of Section 4AAAA football.
The second-seeded North Polars made it three-and-out for the Tartan Titans when they met in the quarterfinals of Section 4AAA volleyball action Oct. 25 in the Hal Norgard Gymnasium.

Many people are still puzzling why the Hill-Murray Pioneers - winners of their fourth straight Classic Suburban Conference volleyball title - were seeded fifth in the Section 4AAA play.
