Former Raider earns MIAC accolades
The Bethel University women’s hockey team put together a record-setting season this year and a former Roseville Raider had a lot to do with the team’s success.
Erika Allen, a sophomore goaltender for the Royals, helped lead Bethel to a third-place finish in the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference standings and a berth in the conference tournament. For her efforts, she was one of two netminders named all-MIAC.
Allen led the MIAC in minutes played (1,379) and saves (531) and finished second in wins (14).
Bethel won a program-record 17 games and qualified for the MIAC playoffs for the fourth consecutive season.
Allen appeared in 23 of Bethel’s 26 games this season and started 22. She finished the season 14-7-1, sported a goals-against average of 1.70 and posted a save percentage of .932.
The all-MIAC award is Allen’s second post-season conference accolade in as many seasons. A year ago Allen was named to the MIAC all-rookie team. In 2012-13, Allen went 7-5 with a 1.73 goals-against average and a save percentage of .926.
She appeared in 15 games with 12 starts.
