Police in New Brighton search for robbery, burglary suspects

The New Brighton Department of Public Safety is seeking the public's help in identifying suspects from a recent robbery and burglary.

NBDPS Deputy Director Tony Paetznick said officers responded to a report of a robbery at the Circle K gas station on the corner of Silver Lake Road and West County Road E at approximately 5:54 a.m. Friday, March 28. Officers searched the area with a K-9, but were unable to locate the suspects.

Paetznick said one female employee was on duty at the time; she was not injured. Three black males entered the store, one of whom was carrying a black handgun. The employee told officers that he ordered her to open the cash register and had her sit on the floor while the trio stole cash from the register and some cigarettes before dashing out the door.

There are photos posted on the NBDPS Facebook page of the suspects taken from a surveillance camera, including one suspect wearing a very distinctive sweatshirt. At 12:15 p.m. Thursday, March 27 the NBDPS was dispatched to a residence on the 1900 block of Long Lake Road for a report of a burglary alarm.  Upon arrival, officers found evidence of an attempted forced entry into the home, according to a NBDPS crime update. A neighbor who spoke with police at the scene said three black males wearing "dress clothes" had gotten out of a silver newer vehicle and approached the residence.

Police are asking anyone with any information regarding the burglary or the robbery suspects to contact the NBDPS by calling 651-288-4100, emailing crimeprevention@newbrighton.gov, or via their Facebook page. Anyone with anything to report may remain anonymous.  The NBDPS would also like to remind everyone to call 911 if someone comes to your door you do not know and asks for someone who does not live there, or for directions.
