Raiders lacrosse gearing up for post-season
The Roseville Area High School lacrosse teams have completed their regular seasons and are awaiting the beginning of the post-season.
Roseville’s boys squad closed out its schedule with a game at Stillwater on Monday, past the deadline for this edition of the Review. The Raiders went into that game with a record of 6-6 after beating Hill-Murray 7-6 on May 22.
The six victories put the Raiders right on the bubble for hosting a first-round playoff game in the Section 5 tournament. The top two seeds will probably go to White Bear Lake and Mounds View while the next tier of teams includes Robbinsdale Armstrong, Roseville, Totino-Grace, Osseo/Park Center and Providence Academy. Irondale and Robbinsdale Cooper look like the two most likely teams to meet in Wednesdays play-in game.
In addition to Hill-Murray, Roseville also owns victories over Cretin-Derham Hall, Park-Cottage Grove, Totino-Grace, Forest Lake and Hastings.
On the girls’ side, Roseville wrapped up its regular season last week with losses to Stillwater and Mahtomedi. The Raiders enter the playoffs with a record of 3-9.
It’s a good bet that the Raiders’ girls team will be on the road in the first round of the Section 5 playoffs.
The section quarterfinals are Thursday, the semifinals are June 2 and the championships will be decided on June 4.
