I-35E will narrow for MnPASS construction
Starting Wednesday, June 18 both north and southbound Interstate 35E will be down to two lanes between Maryland Avenue in St. Paul and Little Canada Road in Little Canada.
Multiple ramp closures will also occur.
The lane and ramp closures will remain in place "until approximately mid-October," according to a statement from the Minnesota Department of Transportation.
Several on and off ramps will be closed, including Maryland Avenue to northbound I-35E, Little Canada Road to southbound I-35E, Roselawn Avenue to northbound and southbound I-35E, northbound I-35E to Roselawn Avenue, northbound I-35E to Little Canada Road, and all connections between I-35E and Highway 36.
The freeway narrowing and exit ramp closures come as crews begin a new phase of work on creating a MnPASS Express lane.
The MnPASS project will add express lanes designed to provide a speedy trip into downtown St. Paul and back for suburbanites during rush hour congestion.
The MnPass lanes will be accessible to carpoolers free of charge during rush hour traffic, or available to solo motorists for a fee that MnDOT says will average $1.25 per ride.
