In Memory: Alice Johnson Anderson Wilder

Alice Wilder

Alice Johnson Anderson Wilder, 95, of Whitley County, Ken., North St. Paul and Huntersville, NC., passed away June 8 at home, surrounded by her family.

She is survived by sister Audrey; children, Ed, Steve, and Jann; many grandchildren, particularly adorable great grandchildren, and nieces, nephews, cousins and in-laws galore — the matriarch of a great extended family.

Alice was preceded in this passage by her parents, most of her brothers and sisters, two husbands; Ed Anderson and Baylor Wilder, and many, many friends.

Born and raised in rural Kentucky, she survived the depression, served as a civilian employee in the war and raised her children with Ed in North St. Paul. She and Baylor reunited at their 50-year high school reunion and returned to their childhood home in Kentucky.  After his death, she joined her daughter's family in the Charlotte area, providing grandmotherly advice for another 18 years.

Funeral services were held at Hopewell Presbyterian Church, Huntersville, NC on June 10, and at the Chapel at Arlington Gardens Cemetery, Cincinnati, Ohio, on June 12 followed by interment at Arlington Gardens Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial gifts to Hopewell Presbyterian Church, 10500 Beatties Ford Road, Huntersville, NC 28078.

James Funeral Home of Huntersville is serving the family.
