Mounds View

Had the thief been drinking?
An attempt to steal a car June 18 in Scotland Court may have been unsuccessful because the car wouldn’t start. Instead, the thief took the ignition interlock device. The Drage instrument, designed to prevent a car being started by an over-the-limit driver, was valued at $999.

Surprise inside
A thief, who broke into a gang box in the back of a pickup truck June 20 parked in a hotel lot in the 2100 block of Program Avenue, is now the confused owner of $500 worth of winter clothing and a climbing harness valued at $1,500.

Theft
A teen prowler made off with a Winchester 30-30 cal. rifle and a set of car keys from an unlocked vehicle in the pre-dawn hours of June 13 in the 7600 block of Woodlawn Drive. The rifle was recovered and the youth has been identified as a 17-year-old out of Columbia Heights. Charges are pending.

They’ll steal anything dept.
Four large bags of beads, tools and other craft supplies, valued at $500, were taken from a vehicle parked at the Moundsview Square strip mall the afternoon of June 18. No suspects.

Why teens shouldn’t drink
A trespassing teen, participating in a single-car urban derby at 2 a.m. at a trailer park in the 5000 block of Old Hwy. 8 N.W. with his headlights off, was pulled over by police and charged with disorderly conduct and driving while intoxicated. The 18-year-old local man was locked up before he could hurt someone.

St. Anthony

All in a night’s work
The big-box store moved out and vandals moved in, smashing windows in the unoccupied space June 19 in the 3800 block of Silver Lake Road. The dollar amount of the damage is unknown.

Arrest
Police ended the adventure of a 26-year-old woman, pulled over June 19 in the 2200 block of St. Anthony Boulevard for speeding and failing to yield at an intersection. She was also cited for driving after license suspension and failure to provide proof of insurance. Her vehicle was impounded.

Living life to its fullest
Two men in a vehicle stopped June 17 at 39th Avenue N.E. and Harding Street for a traffic violation were arrested on felony charges of possession of methamphetamine, a fifth-degree controlled substance. The driver, age 32, was also charged with gross misdemeanor operating an uninsured vehicle and driving after license revocation. The passenger, age 26, and having a little problem with being arrested, was also charged with gross misdemeanor obstruction of the legal process.

Marital difficulties
After going nose-to-nose with her husband June 17, things got physical and the 26-year-old wife attempted to call 911 before fleeing the scene. The 29-year-old man was found in the home with a self-inflicted injury from an undisclosed weapon. He was hospitalized. Charges of second-degree assault with a weapon, felony interference with a 911 call and misdemeanor domestic assault are pending against the husband.

Theft
A female resident in the 2500 block of St. Anthony Boulevard reported that a package from Fedex and another from the USPS had been left on her front step. A thief picked both of them up.
