Mustangs take another shot at Bunker Hills

For the third straight year, the Mounds View High School girls golf team is represented at the state tournament. For the second time in three years, the Mustangs made state as a team.

Mounds View earned its way to state by capturing the Section 5AAA title on May 30 and June 1 at the Links at Northfork in Ramsey. The Mustangs trailed defending section champion Spring Lake Park by one shot after day one and overtook the Panthers on day two to win the section title.

The Mustangs’ state contingent consists of seniors Kristen Cash and Lauren Ganske, junior Anna Roesler, sophomores and twin sisters Mia and Sara Wendt and freshman Lauren Ganske.

Cash and Lauren Ganske already have state-tournament experience. They were sophomores when Mounds View qualified as a team in 2014. Cash also qualified for state as an individual last season as a junior and has played in the state girls hockey tournament.

Cash finished in a four-way tie for 10th place last year with a two-day total of 159.
