Bituminous Roadways Inc., wins national award for quality of asphalt paving

The National Asphalt Pavement Association (NAPA) announced on Feb. 1, that Bituminous Roadways, Inc. of Mendota Heights, Minn., won a 2016 Quality in Construction Award for excellence in construction of an asphalt pavement. The company received its award at a ceremony during the association’s 62nd annual meeting in Orlando.

“Earning a Quality in Construction Award shows a strong commitment to quality from a contractor who measures their project against industry best practices,” said 2016 NAPA chairman Kevin Kelly. “In earning this Quality in Construction Award, Bituminous Roadways has constructed a safe, quiet, smooth asphalt pavement.”

Bituminous Roadways won the award for its work on the Hastings High School parking lot. While constructing the project the company discovered unexpected rutting that required additional grading work. Despite this challenge, Bituminous Roadways completed the parking lot on schedule in just four weeks, gaining local press attention for its high-quality work.
