Maplewood Nature Center Events

Maplewood Nature Center & Neighborhood Preserves, 2659 E. Seventh St. in Maplewood offers these events: Unless otherwise noted, to register for any of the events below go to and click on the Register Online Go button. You can also pay by cash or check by calling 651-249-2170.

• Peer into the Pond Family — Saturday, May 26 from 2 to 3:15 p.m. This event is for children age 5 and older with an adult. This event is free, but registration is needed by Friday, May 25. Participants will catch, identify and release snails, water bugs and minnows from the 600 foot floating boardwalk and view them live under a TV video cam.  

• Waterfest, “Follow the Flow” — Saturday, June 2 at Lake Phalen Pavilion from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. This free event is for all ages. It will include canoe rides, fishing lessons, swimming, bouncy castle, games, school exhibits, live animals, music and dance performances, fair food trucks, fishing contest, and much more. Those who attend can enjoy the day on the lake with both indoor and outdoor activities. Participants can also visit the Nature Center booth at this festival. For more information, visit

Maplewood Nature Center is a 40-acre preserve operated by the City of Maplewood and is open Tuesday through Saturday, 8:30 am to 4:30 pm. The Nature Play Yard adjoins the Visitor Center. Trails wind through oak woods and marsh and are open every day from dawn to dusk. Use of facilities is free of charge.
