LETTER: Shocked by the lenient sentence for crash that caused ‘carnage’

To the Editor:

I would like to comment on the story titled “Man sentenced for brutal, head-on crash in Roseville” that was in the May 8 and 9 editions of the paper. The man that caused this carnage, Michael Flodine, was sentenced to 180 days in jail, five years probation, and an 18-month stayed prison term. Are you kidding me? 180 days?

Who in their right mind drives 120-plus miles per hour down the wrong side of the street for over half a mile mile? And I didn’t read anything about a revoked driver’s license for at least, say, five to 10 years.

But hey, there was something mentioned about a defensive driving course. Are you serious? I hope Mr. Flodine gets the help he needs and truly understands how lenient his sentence was.
