Inquiring Minds: Comparing populations of China and India to the United States

Q. How do the populations of China and India compare to the United States?

A. In 2016, there was 323.4 million Americans. That is a lot of people, but we are nowhere near the size of China and India. Both those nations have populations numbering in the billions. Specifically, there were 1.379 billion Chinese in 2016, while the population of India numbered nearly as many at 1.324 billion. Of the three countries, India’s population growth has been the fastest. Since 1960, it has almost tripled.
