NEWSBRIEF: Dakota County Library announces 2018 Poetry Contest winners

Dakota County Library, in partnership with the Dakota County Library Foundation, has announced the results of its annual Poetry Contest. Over 190 entries were submitted — a 22 percent increase in participation from the previous year. The library applauds and thanks the many local poets who submitted their poetry to the competition. Winning poems will be published on the Dakota County Library website. 


Several local poets place in various categories. Bridget. C., of West St. Paul, placed first in the group of children ages 9 to 11 with her poem “Punishment.”  Mendota Heights’ teen Sarah N. earned third place in the 12-14 age bracket with her poem “Ode to the Sock.” In the Teen 15-18 bracket, “Corrupt” earned Nasaan B., of Inver Grove Heights, third place.
