The Tropics Indoor Water park, closed since early April as part of the Shoreview Community Center expansion, reopened with newly renovated locker rooms June 2.

On Twitter, Shoreview said the new expanded area of the pool, Bamboo Bay, is expected to open in this fall.

The water park expansion is part of the $15.6 million community center remodel and also includes a new zero-depth splash pool and aquatic play structure with slides and water sprays. The pool locker room renovation came with an increase in family changing rooms from two to seven.

City council members and other officials broke ground on the project in October, and according to previous construction updates, work on the roofs and walls is complete.

Construction then moved to the interior, causing some partial closures at the center.

The indoor track and Fitness Studio 1 at the community center, which the city says sees more than 500,000 users a year, both closed for construction and are slated to open again in July. The entire expansion is expected to be completed by August, according to the city.
