High school burglars in St. Anthony


 

Arden Hills

Dental hygiene heist

A 23-year-old man was cited for misdemeanor theft after being caught stealing $120 worth of teeth whitening strips and battery-powered toothbrush heads at the Cub Foods in the 3700 block of Lexington Avenue the evening of June 18.

 

Take out

A 38-year-old employee of the Papa Murphy’s located in the 3700 block of Lexington Avenue was busted June 16 for having stolen $200 cash from the store’s safe the night prior. The St. Paul man was cited for misdemeanor theft.

 

Theft

A 40-year-old woman told police June 14 that someone had stolen her propane tank, fishing boat motor and a large air compressor, together worth $1,600, from an unlocked gazebo at her place in the 2000 block of Thom Drive. The thief caused another $1,500 worth of damage by cutting an RV fuel line during the theft.

 

Falcon Heights

Weed found

At 9 a.m. on June 18 a woman told deputies she found a large bag of marijuana in the 1500 block of Larpenteur Avenue stuffed in a fire extinguisher box.

Lauderdale

 

Arrest

Police arrested a 53-year-old man June 7 in the 1700 block of Malvern Street on a Ramsey County warrant for misdemeanor assault and bench warrants for violating a harassment restraining order and giving false information to police. The man was booked at the Ramsey County Jail.

 

Chase, crash

Police attempted to stop a driver at Eustis Street and Larpenteur Avenue June 9 but the man fled, eventually crashing through a fence. A passenger in the car surrendered to police but the driver, a 29-year-old man, ran off. St. Paul police eventually caught him and he was booked at the Ramsey County Jail for felony fleeing police in a motor vehicle.

 

Odd warrants

Police arrested a 40-year-old man June 6 in the 1700 block of Walnut Street for an outstanding Ramsey County warrant for escape motor vehicle tax and another out of Scott County for an uncased firearm. He was booked at the Ramsey County Jail.

 

Little Canada

Dealership crash

A 34-year-old man crashed his car through a fence and into a car dealership located in the 100 block of County Road C, hitting a couple cars, in the early morning hours of June 13. The man was arrested for criminal property damage and possible DUI, since deputies found a baggy of white powder inside his car, meaning drug possession charges are possible, too.

 

Home invasion

A man kicked in the door of an apartment in the 400 block of Labore Road just after 1 a.m. June 18. A 34-year-old man and 25-year-old woman were in the place at the time, and the attempted burglar fled when a dog started barking.

 

Pull tab robbery!

Just after 3 p.m. on June 18, a Monday, two women ran into Mama T’s Castle Tap in the 2500 block of Rice Street, took the bar’s pull tab money and ran out.

 

Mounds View

Burglary

A resident who lives in the 2600 block of Scotland Court reported a burglary to police June 10.

 

DWI

The evening of June 10 an officer stopped a car in the 5500 block of Quincy Street for failing to keep its lane, and then arrested its driver, a 41-year-old Mounds View man, for a litany of things, including driving with a cancelled license, third-degree DWI, an ignition interlock violation, an alcohol abstinence violaiton, speeding and a lane violation.

 

The afternoon of June 11 an officer witnessed a car accident in the area of Bronson Drive and Greenfield Avenue and arrested one of the involved drivers, a 65-year-old Mounds View man, for third-degree DWI and failure to stay in a single lane.

 

Robbery

Police responded to a report of an assault and robbery June 15 in the 7600 block of Woodlawn Drive.

 

Stolen clubs

A prowler took advantage of an unlocked car parked overnight into June 16 in the 2400 block of Sherwood Road and stole golf clubs out of the vehicle, a loss of $1,650.

 

Theft

Officers took a report of stolen porch decorations June 15 from a resident who lives in the 2600 block of Arden Avenue.

 

Wrong way with a gun

Police arrested a 36-year-old Isanti man in the early morning hours of June 12 at County Road I and Interstate 35W for driving the wrong way on the highway, no proof of insurance and the illegal transport of a firearm.

 

New Brighton

Scrappers

A 36-year-old man told police June 20 that five or six days prior someone had stolen the catalytic converter out of his vehicle as it was parked in the 1400 block of 10th Street NW. The car part is a favorite of metal scrappers because it contains copper.

 

Recovered bike

A 48-year-old woman told police June 19 that her son’s bike had been stolen from the Cub Foods in the 2600 block of Rice Creek Road that same day. Later, police saw a suspect in the theft at Dairy Queen, and questioned the person, who said they hadn’t stolen it but they knew who did and where the bike had been ditched. The informant led police to the 2000 block of Rice Creek Road where police recovered the bike, which was returned to the boy.

A 19-year-old woman who’d biked to the Habitat for Humanity Restore located in the 500 block of County Road D told police June 15 that someone had stolen her bike from the store the day prior.

 

Shoreview

Stolen Escalade

Someone broke into a garage in the 3100 block of West Owasso Boulevarad through a screen window overnight into June 15 and stole a 59-year-old man’s Cadillac Escalade, which was parked in the garage with its keys inside.

 

Theft

A 911 caller reported June 19 the theft of tools from a work van parked in the 5800 block of St. Alban’s Court.

 

St. Anthony

Broken windows

A 25-year-old woman told police June 6 someone broke a window on her car as it was parked at apartments in the 2800 block of Silver Lane, causing $200 worth of damage.

A 65-year-old man told police June 10 someone broke a window on his car as it was parked at apartments in the 2600 block of Kenzie Terrace. The prowler rummaged through the vehicle but didn’t appear to steal anything. It’ll cost $500 to fix the window.

 

Child abuse

A clinic contacted police June 4 about suspected child abuse after a 4-month-old girl in for a checkup had suspicious injuries. Police questioned the parents, a 19-year-old man and 25-year-old woman, and the child was put in protective custody. The case was turned over to the Ramsey County Attorney for charges against both parents for felony malicious punishment of a child under 4, gross misdemeanor malicious punishment and neglect or endangerment of a child.

 

DWI

Police arrested a 50-year-old Richfield man June 7 for DWI after a stop at 37th Avenue and Edward Street. The man blew a .15 blood alcohol concentration, and because of a prior DWI conviction, was booked at the Hennepin County Jail for third-degree DWI.

 

High school burglars

A trio of 18-year-olds somehow got into St. Anthony Village High School, as discovered by police responding to an alarm at the school in the 3300 block of 33rd Avenue on June 4. As police searched the building with help from a custodian, two of the men appeared at the school’s front door — they were told to stop and they complied. After the two were booked at the Hennepin County Jail for second-degree burglary, police interviewed them and found out about the third 18-year-old, who’d split before police made it to the scene. The group did no damage to the school and stole nothing. Police spoke to school staff and both agreed the incident could be handled by the school, with no criminal charges for the three.

 

Fake burrito bucks

A manager at the Chipotle in the 2700 block of 39th Avenue turned over to police a counterfeit $100 bill; the case was turned over to the U.S. Secret Service.

 

Lock the car

A 70-year-old woman told police June 10 someone rummaged through her unlocked car as it was parked at apartments in the 2600 block of Kenzie Terrace and stole $25 in change and a power pack, a total loss of $155.

 

Phone heist!

Three people entered the AT&T Wireless store in the 2700 block of 39th Avenue June 10 and proceeded to knock over a display of phones and then steal one of the phones. They got into a car and an employee of the store was able to give police a partial plate number.

 

Terroristic threats

Minneapolis police told St. Anthony PD on June 5 about possible terroristic threats made by a St. Anthony Village High School student. Police got a search warrant for a 15-year-old girl’s phone and interviewed her. Police told her and her parents that she could be looking at possible Hennepin County charges of felony terroristic threats.

 

Theft

A 49-year-old woman was caught in the act of trying to steal $419.92 worth of merchandise from the Cub Foods in the 3900 block of Silver Lake Road June 4. She was cited for misdemeanor theft and sent on her way.
