On Thursday, June 14, Rep. Regina Barr, R-Inver Grove Heights, was named a recipient of the Housing First Minnesota 2018 Housing Leadership award.

Barr supported a number of provisions during the 2018 session aimed at making homeownership more affordable, including legislation that would have required legislative review of new home construction regulations that would add more than $1,000 to the price of a home. In addition, Barr supported proposals to improve the construction industry workforce which is currently struggling to keep pace with demand for workers.

“I am proud to have supported policies that aim to keep homeownership affordable for Minnesota families,” Barr said in a statement. “With Dakota County seeing a significant expansion in new homes, we need policies that keep homeownership in reach for Minnesotans across all income levels, and to keep a check on red tape and other regulations that push the cost of owning a home up by thousands of dollars.”
