Caught red-handed in St. Anthony

Lauderdale

Domestic assault

A 14-year-old girl told police June 22 that her 16-year-old sister had assaulted her. Police questioned them both and ended up arresting the older sister and booking her at the Ramsey County Juvenile Detention center for fifth-degree assault.

Fraud

A 72-year-old woman who works at a business in the 2400 block of Larpenteur Avenue told police June 19 that someone had called requesting a payment of $1,700. She later realized it was fraud.

Sexting

The mother of a 16-year-old girl told police June 22 that she’d found, according to the police report, “pornographic photos” on her daughter’s cell phone. The girl’s 19-year-old boyfriend was identified as being in the photographs; police took the phone as evidence and are investigating.

Theft from auto

A 52-year-old man told police June 22 that someone had gotten into his work van as it was parked in the 1700 block of Pleasant Street and stolen some $1,200 worth of power tools and accessories.

New Brighton

Open garage

A 59-year-old man told police July 3 he’d left his garage door open overnight at his home in the 1200 block of Robin Lane, and an opportunistic thief stole some $1,120 worth of tools out of it, including a cordless drill, jigsaw, a roller bag, drill bits, stud finder, wrenches, saw blades, chisels, a hammer drill, Sawzall and more.

Turn-key theft

A 48-year-old man told police July 2 that sometime in the early morning hours his unlocked truck, which had its key in the center console, was stolen from the 2400 block of Violet Court.

Stolen batteries

Sometime overnight into July 2, a prowler opened the hood of two semi-trucks parked at a business in the 500 block of First Street SW and stole eight auto batteries, four from each truck.

St Anthony

Caught red-handed

A check on a 2016 Ford seen June 20 at Silver Lake Road and County Road E showed it as stolen out of St. Paul. Police arrested its driver, a 15-year-old boy, and booked him at the Ramsey County Juvenile Detention Center for possession of a stolen vehicle.

Dispatch from the opioid crisis

Officers headed to a gas station in the 2800 block of Kenzie Terrace June 19 for a welfare check and found a 35-year-old woman who was initially unresponsive. An ambulance came and found she was not in a medical crisis, and she was released. She was in possession of pills, for which she said she had a prescription. Police took the pills as evidence with the intent of verifying the woman indeed had a prescription. That same day, the woman went to the police station and attempted to get the pills back. Police determined she never had a prescription. Investigators turned the case over to the Ramsey County Attorney’s Office for possible charges, including possession of a controlled substance and “felony attempted to procure a controlled substance thru deceit,” as stated in the police report.

Knife

A person told police they were approached by two women June 24 while at the coffee shop in the 2700 block of 39th Avenue. One of the women threatened the reporting person with a knife. Police arrested the 30-year-old for disorderly conduct and she was booked at the Hennepin County Jail.

 Rummaging

A 63-year-old woman who lives in the 3300 block of Roosevelt Court told police June 24 that someone had rummaged through her vehicle overnight and stolen an iPad mini, accessories and a pair of prescription sunglasses, a loss of $1,100. While officers were on the scene taking the report, a neighbor walked over and said three of her cars had been rummaged through, though items only appeared to have been taken from one — a purse and other things, which were found strewn across her yard though her wallet and driver’s license had been stolen, a $20 loss.

That same day a 53-year-old woman from the 2900 block of 32nd Avenue told police someone had entered two of her unlocked cars overnight, though only stolen from one. The losses included some $5 in change and $40 worth of random items.

Police reports from Arden Hills, Little Canada, Mounds View and Shoreview were not available this week. They will return next week.
