Chamber wind concerts

The Twin Cities’ leading chamber wind ensemble, Neoteric Chamber Winds, announces its eighth season. Neoteric will perform two concerts -- Saturday, Aug. 11, at Roseville Lutheran Church, 1215 Roselawn Ave. in Roseville, and Tuesday Aug. 14 at Hennepin Avenue United Methodist, 511 Groveland Ave. in Minneapolis. Performances begin at 7:30 p.m. and are free of charge, though donations will be accepted. Neoteric Chamber Winds was founded in 2011 to explore music written in the 20th and 21st centuries for uncommon combinations of wind instruments.

 

Weekly double deck pinochle and euchre game 

A group of St. Anthony residents hosts a weekly double deck pinochle game on Mondays and Thursdays starting at 11:30 a.m., and an euchre game Saturdays starting at noon, and Wednesdays starting at 5:30 p.m. at an apartment community room in St. Anthony. Play cribbage and 500 in Roseville

The Roseville Senior Club 5 is looking for new players to join in games of cribbage and 500. The club meets at the Rosetown Legion, 700 County Road C, the first and third Thursdays of the month. Sign-in is at 11:45 a.m. and is followed by coffee and dessert, with play beginning at 12:15 p.m.

 

Teen meetings suspended

The Alateen meetings that met Tuesdays at First Covenant Church in St. Paul have been suspended until further notice.

 

Fire department lemonade stands

Join the Roseville Fire Department for some lemonade and meet your neighbors. Roseville firefighters are hosting two lemonade stands in the upcoming weeks. On Wednesday, Aug. 8, firefighters will be at the cul-de-sac at 1735 of Woodbridge Court, from 1 to 3 p.m. and on Thursday, Aug. 16, they will be at 2835 Pascal St. from 1 to 3 p.m. While there, visitors will get a chance to meet firefighters and meet neighbors. Visitors can spray water, climb on a fire truck, have some lemonade and other treats. They’ll also get information about fire safety, use of fire alarms, a career in firefighting and other fire-related matters.

 

Early voting available at Roseville Library

There is a primary election for Roseville mayor, city council and several federal, state and judicial offices coming up on Aug. 14.

Beginning Aug. 7, Roseville residents can vote early at the Ramsey County Library in Roseville, 2180 Hamline Ave., and 10 other early voting stations located throughout Ramsey County. A person may register to vote, complete the absentee ballot application and vote all at the same time. Hours for early voting at the library are:

Aug. 7 - 10, noon to 6 p.m.

Saturday, Aug. 11, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Monday, Aug. 13, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Voters can also vote through the mail. Get an application at rcelections.org or call 651-266-2171 and an application will be sent to you. Allow at least one week to receive, complete and return the ballot before the Aug. 14 primary.

No early voting at Roseville City Hall this year.

 

Mounds View Library screens ‘Happening - A Clean Energy Revolution’

Mounds View Library is hosting a screening of the movie “Happening - A Clean Revolution,” Thursday, Aug. 9 starting at 6:30 p.m. The movie shows filmmaker Jams Redford on a colorful personal journey into the dawn of the clean energy era as it creates jobs, turns profits, and makes communities stronger and healthier across the U.S. Mounds View Library is located at 2576 Mounds View Drive.
