Coffee shop burglars in New Brighton


 

Arden Hills

Stolen phones

A 23-year-old man was caught attempting to steal three phones from the AT&T store in the 3800 block of Lexington Avenue July 18 worth a total of $2,000. He was collared with an iPhone 7, the 7 plus and an 8.

 

Falcon Heights

Bike thief

A 48-year-old woman told police about the theft of her son’s bike from one of his friends’ yards in the 1800 block of Fry Street on July 20.

 

Stolen phones again

A man managed to steal a $900 iPhone X from the Metro PCS store in the 1500 block of Larpenteur Avenue the evening of July 20.

 

Lauderdale

Assault

A 29-year-old woman told police July 15 she was physically assaulted by an acquaintance, who was identified as a 55-year-old man. Police took photos of the woman’s injuries and the man was questioned. Police turned the case over to the city attorney for charges of fifth-degree misdemeanor assault.

 

Booze cruise

Police arrested and cited two 24-year-old men for open containers in a car that was stopped July 12 at Larpenteur Avenue and Highway 280. The driver of the car, a 19-year-old man, was cited for allowing an open container in a motor vehicle, before they all were sent on their way.

 

Keyed cars

A 20-year-old man told police July 9 that his car was keyed while it was parked in the 1800 block of Eustis Street. On July 12, a 61-year-old woman who lives at apartments in the 1600 block of Pleasant Street told police her car was keyed while parked in her building’s underground garage.

 

Lock the car

A 55-year-old man told police he’s out $45 cash, his ID, credit cards, some gift cards, his cell phone and a cooler, after he left all that stuff, worth $800 in total, in his unlocked car that was parked in the 1600 block of Carl Street as reported July 14.

 

‘The ruckus from last night’

Lauderdale City Hall sent out a message regarding “The ruckus from last night”; the night in question was July 24. According to the police, Roseville officers chased a stolen vehicle into Lauderdale and it was found abandoned in the 170 block of Eustis Street. Police set up a perimeter and brought in a K9 unit to search for the car thief, but they did not find the person who’d apparently stolen the car from St. Louis Park.

 

Little Canada

Keys in unlocked car

A 29-year-old man reported the theft of his car from inside his garage in the 2200 block of Gervais Hills Drive the morning of July 21. He’d left the keys inside the unlocked vehicle; it’s unclear how the thief got in the garage.

 

How’s the resale work

Two electrical transformers, valued at a total of $10,000, were stolen from a construction site in the 100 block of County Road B2 as reported the morning of July 23.

 

Mounds View

Drunken crash

Police headed to the 2200 block of Knoll Drive the night of July 20 on a report of a car that’d crashed. Officers ended up arresting the driver of the car, a 42-year-old Wayzata man, for DWI and DWI test refusal. Eventually, the man registered a .21 blood alcohol concentration.

 

Hazardous vehicle

Officers encountered a disabled vehicle that was blocking the road at Mounds View Boulevard and Edgewood Drive just after midnight July 16. They deemed it a hazard and had it towed. 

 

‘Not small amount marijuana’

Police stopped a 54-year-old Cedar man in the 2200 block of Mounds View Boulevard the night of July 18 and arrested him for DWI — operating a motor vehicle under the influence of a controlled substance, as well as fifth-degree possession of a controlled substance, “Not small amount marijuana,” per the arrest report.

 

New Brighton

Coffee shop burglars

Sometime overnight into July 24, someone took a large chunk of concrete and threw it through the front glass door of the Bru House in the 1400 block of Silver Lake Road, went inside and stole the cash register. Though the cash register was worth $300 and likely had a bit of money in it, it’s going to cost at least $1,000 to fix the door.

A similar event happened elsewhere that same night, and there was a witness from across the street. That person told police that around 3:20 a.m. on July 24 they saw an SUV pull up to Limu Coffee in the 500 block of Main Street and two men got out. They threw rocks through the window on the front door and entered the building. The burglars took the cash register, a safe, a router, credit cards, personal and business checks and $1,050 in deposits.

 

Shoreview

Bikes, again

A 66-year-old woman told police the morning of July 24 that someone had taken from her garage, located in the 700 block of County Road F, two bicycles and a leather jacket, a loss of $300.

 

Burglary

Someone got into a home in the 200 block of Oak Hill Drive and stole the key fobs of home’s residents, a 42-year-old man and a 44-year-old woman, as reported the morning of July 21.

 

St. Anthony

Arrest

A 27-year-old woman stopped July 9 at Silver Lake Road and 29th Avenue was arrested and cited for expired tabs, driving with a suspended license and for a child restraint violation.

 

DWI

Police stopped a 26-year-old New Brighton woman for speeding July 14 at 29th Avenue and Silver Lake Road and ended up arresting her for DWI. She refused to submit to a breath test so she was booked at the Hennepin County Jail for DWI test refusal, fourth-degree DWI and speeding.

 

The unlocked car beat

A 37-year-old man is out a pocketknife and belt clip that he’d left in his unlocked vehicle that was parked in the 2900 block of Crestview Drive, as reported July 11. A 29-year-old woman told police July 12 someone had rummaged through her car as it was parked in the 3000 block of Croft Drive, though nothing appeared to have been taken.

 

Theft

A 62-year-old man reported the theft of a cell phone from a locked back room at Garden City on July 10, during which some damage to the business occurred.

 

Voter fraud?

Someone tipped off police July 10 about possible voter registration fraud committed by a 71-year-old man.
