NEWSBRIEF: Ramsey County Baby Café grand opening

August is National Breastfeeding Awareness Month and Saint Paul – Ramsey County Public Health is celebrating with a grand opening reception for Ramsey County Baby Café, a free, drop-in service offering breastfeeding support for pregnant women and breastfeeding mothers.

The Ramsey County Baby Café grand opening will be held from 4 to 6 p.m., Wednesday, Aug. 22, at the Hmong American Partnership, 1075 Arcade St., St. Paul. The reception will include Baby Café lactation consultants on hand to answer questions, refreshments and door prizes for the first 50 people. Pregnant and breastfeeding mothers, as well as health care professional and other community members interested in learning more about Baby Café are encouraged to attend. The reception is free and open to the public. 

Ramsey County Baby Cafés are offered monthly at four different sites where mothers can relax, prepare and get help with breastfeeding, share tips and techniques, and socialize with other moms. One-on-one help from lactation professionals is available. Moms can also have their babies weighed and get additional support. Families do not have to be WIC eligible to attend Baby Café.

Ramsey County Baby Cafés are open from 4 to 6 p.m. at the following sites and days:

• Sun Ray Library, 2105 Wilson Ave., St. Paul – the first Wednesdays of the month.

• Rondo Library, 461 Dale St., St. Paul – the third Wednesdays of the month.

• Hmong American Partnership, 1075 Arcade St., St. Paul – the fourth Wednesdays of the month.

• Rice Street Library, 1011 Rice Street, Saint Paul, 55117 – the fourth Thursdays of the month.
