Urban Roots honey harvest and pizza night

Urban Roots will be hosting a ‘Honey Harvest’ and wood-fired pizza night on Thursday, Sept. 13 from 4:30 to 8 p.m. This ticketed event — $20 for adults, $10 for kids ages 5 through 12 — will be a picnic-style dinner at the youth urban agriculture nonprofit’s urban farm and demonstration site on Rivoli Bluff, located at the western end of Minnehaha Avenue in the Railroad Island neighborhood. Learn about the buzz with pollinators at this family-friendly evening celebrating youth, community, and great food. Children ages 5 and under eat free. Delicious pizzas and refreshments provided for all ages. Funds collected from ticket sales will go towards Urban Roots programs in community-based work around farming, cooking and habitat restoration. Urban Roots offers youth ages 14-18 from St. Paul’s East Side paid internships in three program areas: market garden, conservation, and cook fresh. Urban Roots’ programs engage youth in career exploration, entrepreneurial ventures, 21st century job skills, self-discovery, and other skills. For more information, go to www.urbanrootsmn.org.
