Color My World

Discover your inner artist in this story-based celebration of painting and color. Presented by the Story Man from England. Running from 10:15 to 11 a.m., Sept. 18, this is open to ages 2 to 8. It will take place at the South St. Paul Library, 106 Third Ave. N.

 

TED TALKS Discussion 

The first 20 minutes of these discussions is spent watching a popular pre-selected TED TALK Video. Next, a facilitator will lead a discussion by posing a few questions to get the conversation started and the group will do the rest. Topics and speakers are announced ahead of time via the TPAC e-newsletter. September’s meeting will be on Sept. 18 from 1 to 2:30 at the Thompson Park Activity Center, 1200 Stassen Lane, West St. Paul. The discussion will be on “A Prosecutor’s Vision for a Better Justice System.”

 

 

 

Homework Help

Work with a volunteer tutor for help with homework assignments in any subject. Open to K-12 students, no appointment is necessary. Receive help from 5 to 7 p.m., Sept. 19 at the Inver Glen Library, 8098 Blaine Ave. E.

 

Dakota Gardeners monthly meeting

The speaker is Mary Schier, writer and editor of The Northern Gardener Magazine. This talk highlights 15 plants that have a place in Minnesota horticultural history and still look great in northern gardens. The meeting will take place Sept. 19 at 7 p.m. at the South St. Paul High School, 700 Second St. N. in the lecture hall on the east side of the building. The public is welcome. Food Truck Day

Inver Grove Heights will host a Food Truck Day Sept. 19 from 4:30 to 7 p.m. due to the popularity of the previous days and parking lot construction, this final Food Truck Day will be held at the Rich Valley Athletic Complex, 1841 105th St. E. 

 

Facilities Design Open House

Staff, parents and community members are invited to attend a Facilities Design Open House on Sept. 20 from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at Henry Sibley High School, 1897 Delaware Ave., Mendota Heights, to learn about the planning process, see preliminary architectural drawings, ask questions and more. Beaded Bookmark

From 1 to 3 p.m., Sept. 22, learn about beads and current trends. Local artists will demonstrate jewelry-making techniques, display materials and finished projects, answer questions and teach you how to create your own beaded bookmark. Presented by the Upper Midwest Bead Society, registration is required. This will take place at the West St. Paul Library, 199 Wentworth Ave. E. Call 651-554-6800 for more information. 

 

Fire prevention open house

On Sept. 22, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., visit the fire station, 2121 Dodd Road, for the fire prevention open house. A memorial service will take place at 10 a.m., with live demonstrations at 11 a.m., noon and 1 p.m. There will be bingo, Snuffers Grand Prize game, a junior firefighters challenge for kids, truck tours, educational displays and more. 

 

Fall Clean up day

The City of Inver Grove Heights will host the Annual Clean-Up Day on Sept. 22nd Stop by the Public Works Facility, 8168 Barbara Ave., from 8 a.m. to noon to get rid of unwanted items for a minimal fee. To reduce the amount of waste that enters the landfill, the City of Inver Grove Heights is continuing to offer many recycling opportunities. SWAT School

Join the West St. Paul Police Department for this free family fun activity on Sept. 23 from noon to 3 p.m. at the West St. Paul Sports Complex, 1650 Oakdale Ave., in the lower lot off Wentworth. The Dakota County MAAG team will show off their vehicles and equipment. Anytime Fitness will be there with an obstacle course with prizes for the first 150 kids, and there’ll be a photo booth, and hot dogs on the grill.
