NEWSBRIEF: Absentee voting continues in Dakota County

Dakota County voters are requesting absentee ballots for the Nov. 6 general election at a higher rate than in past elections. More than 23,000 absentee ballots had been issued in the county through the first three weeks of the absentee voting period. More than 9,000 of those ballots have been received by election officials. Absentee voting locations have reported more daily volume than they experienced in 2016.

An absentee ballot can be requested online at, by mail or in person at the following county locations:

Administration Center, 1590 Hwy. 55, Hastings. Monday–Friday, 8 a.m.–4:30 p.m. 

• Northern Service Center, 1 Mendota Road W., West St. Paul. Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday, 8 a.m.–4:30 p.m.; Wednesday, 8 a.m.–6 p.m.

• Western Service Center, 14955 Galaxie Ave., Apple Valley. Monday, Wednesday, Friday, 8 a.m.–4:30 p.m.; Tuesday, Thursday, 8 a.m.–6 p.m.


There will be extended hours from 10 a.m.- to 3 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 3. Voters can obtain an absentee ballot in person until 5 p.m. Monday, Nov. 5, at all three county locations. Voters can return absentee ballots until 3 p.m. Election Day.

Early voting

Early voting will begin Tuesday, Oct. 30 and run through Monday, Nov. 5. Voters may opt to deposit their ballot directly into the ballot box during this period. Early voting is available at the Dakota County Administration Center and city locations.
