Eustis Street prowler?

Someone stalked Eustis Street overnight into Oct. 21, perhaps accounting for four police reports that came out of the 1600, 1800 and 1900 blocks of one of the city’s main drags. A 23-year-old women reported someone rummaged through her unlocked car but apparently didn’t take anything from the 1600 block, while a 32-year-old woman in the 1900 block told police someone nabbed her purse, containing her checkbook, wallet, ID and credit cards, out of her unlocked car, a $500 loss. In the 1800 block, a couple reported that their truck’s tailgate had been pried open and a thief took a toolbox, containing a torque wrench, hammers and other tools, a $300 loss. And in the 1900 block, a woman told police someone got into her vehicle and took bungee cords, a toolbox and some 500 campaign brochures.

 

Move, get out the way!

A 34-year-old man driving on Highway 280 Oct. 18 was stopped at Broadway Street and arrested, cited and released for intentionally obstructing an emergency vehicle. He was also cited for a broken taillight.

Burglary

A 39-year-old man told police Oct. 25 that he’d returned to his home in the 2900 block of Country Drive that same afternoon and found a man inside his home. The 39-year-old chased the other man out of the house.

 

 

Mounds View

Burglary

Officers took a report of a burglary Oct. 22 in the 5400 block of Jackson Drive.

 

Firearm archeology

An officer was summoned Oct. 22 to a construction site in the 5400 block of Jackson Drive on a report of a possible gun unearthed from the ground by work crews. It turned out to be the remains of a toy gun.

 

Shot fired?

A caller from the 2300 block of Sherwood Road called the police Oct. 27 minutes before midnight to report they’d heard a loud bang in the woods behind her home. Officers checked the area but did not find the source of the sound.

 

 

New Brighton

Truck theft

A couple people pushed open a garage door at the U-Haul location in the 1100 block of Silver Lake Road on Oct. 31, took the keys to a box truck and stole the truck.

 

 

Shoreview

Election season!

A 74-year-old woman who lives in the 2800 block of Rustic Place told police Oct. 28 that someone had stolen her lawn sign.

 

Pirates?

A 26-year-old woman who lives in the 3100 block of Woodbridge Street told police Oct. 26 that sometime that month two kayaks, worth a total of $1,000, had been stolen from her dock.

 

Ticket scam

A 60-year-old man told police Oct. 28 he’d sent off $220 for Vikings tickets over a money-exchanging phone app to a person he’d found on Craigslist, but the tickets were never sent. The Vikings lost 30-20 to the Saints that same day.

 

 

St. Anthony

Eggs

A 32-year-old woman who lives at apartments in the 2800 block of Silver Lane told police Oct. 20 the side of her place and sliding glass door had been egged.

 

Forgotten accident

Police got a call about a stalled vehicle Oct. 16 in the area of 37th Avenue and Silver Lake Road and upon checking things out, found a vehicle with two flat tires, which looked like it had been in some kind of accident. The person in the car’s driver’s seat, a 47-year-old woman from Minnetonka, said she didn’t remember being in any accidents. She was arrested for DWI and later blew a .20 blood alcohol concentration. Her car was impounded and she was booked at the Hennepin County Jail for third-degree DWI and driving with a revoked license.

 

Park building vandals

A handful of suspects might have been caught on tape after it was discovered Oct. 15 that someone had destroyed the soap dispensers in the men’s and women’s restrooms in the Central Park building in the 3500 block of Silver Lake Road.

 

Purse snatcher, caught

Officers headed to the Cub Foods in the 3900 block of Silver Lake Road Oct. 16 on a report of a theft in progress and arrived to find the apparent thief, a 19-year-old man, “down in the parking lot,” per the police report. A 71-year-old woman told police the man had grabbed her purse and fled. She and others chased him out of the store and caught him in the lot. The man was found with a counterfeit $100 bill and possible evidence of other thefts was found in his car. He’s a possible suspect in another recent robbery at the same Cub store as well as another in Columbia Heights. The 19-year-old was booked at the Ramsey County Jail for felony robbery.

 

Serious road rage

A 23-year-old woman told police Oct. 18 that in the area of 29th Avenue and Highway 88 a man in a business vehicle who was angry with her driving pointed a gun at her and then fled the area. The case is pending further investigation.
