Counterfeit bill

A deputy headed to the Goodwill store in the 1100 block of County Road E on Nov. 20 on a report of a counterfeit bill. A 35-year-old cashier told the officer that he found the fake $100 bill while counting out his register till after close — the bill was collected as evidence.

Lauderdale

Cold case

An employee at a business located in the 1600 block of Carl Street told police Nov. 15 they'd noticed someone had forced their way into a garage used by the business and stolen three air-conditioning units, a total loss of $1,200.

 

Driving on meth?

A 38-year-old Champlin man stopped Nov. 16 on Highway 280 at Broadway Street was arrested and booked at the Ramsey County Jail for fifth-degree possession of methamphetamine, no proof of insurance and fourth-degree DWI. Whether he's charged with DWI will depend on the results of a blood test to determine his blood alcohol/drug level at the time of the stop.

 

Recovered car

Police on patrol Nov. 16 noticed a suspicious vehicle parked near apartments in the 1600 block of Carl Street and after running a check, noticed it was listed as stolen out of St. Paul. Officers impounded the vehicle and let St. Paul PD know it had been found.

 

 

Little Canada

Burglary

Deputies responded to a sounding alarm at El Sombrero restaurant in the 2900 block of Rice Street around 6:15 a.m. on Nov. 25 and found the front door window had been smashed. Police cleared the building, finding no one inside. Some $800 in cash and coins was missing; the estimated cost to fix the door is $2,800.

 

 

Mounds View

Drunk in a stolen car

Police stopped a car that came up as stolen just after midnight Nov. 22 in the 5400 block of Landmark Circle and arrested its driver, a 34-year-old Anoka man, for a raft of violations, including possession of stolen property, second-degree DWI, first- and second-degree drug possession (cocaine or methamphetamine) and possession of drug paraphernalia. The man also had an outstanding warrant.

 

Mail thief?

Officers headed to the 2900 block of Springview Lane the morning of Nov. 24 to investigate a report of a person in a suspicious vehicle driving around and taking mail out of mailboxes.

 

What's that smell?

Officers checked out an apartment in the 2600 block of Mounds View Boulevard just before 11 a.m. Nov. 18 from which the smell of marijuana was emanating.

 

 

New Brighton

Simulated snowball?

A man told police the night of Nov. 17 that as he was driving in the 500 block of Silver Lake Road someone in a passing car tossed a water balloon that hit his car.

 

 

Stolen cars

A 29-year-old woman stashed her jacket inside her car — the outerwear contained the vehicle's proximity key — and the car was stole from a parking lot in the 300 block of Old Highway 8 as reported by the woman the morning of Nov. 24.

 

Come the night of Nov. 24, a 30-year-old woman told police her locked car, which did contain a spare key for it in the center console, was stolen from the 2200 block of Silver Lane.

 

 

Shoreview

Keys left in the SUV ...

A 35-year-old Minneapolis man told deputies Nov. 21 that his 2006 Chevy SUV had been stolen from a parking lot in the 4600 block of Chatsworth St. sometime overnight. The man said it contained some $10,000 worth of tools, as well as its keys.

 

Kind soul

Someone called the sheriff's office Nov. 26 from the 5800 block of Hodgson Road out of concern for a small furry friend. Per the report: "Animal control officer investigated an injured or sick squirrel with its head buried in the ground for the past two days. The squirrel was transported to the Wildlife Rehabilitation Center for care."

 

Tailgate-gate

A man told the police the evening of Nov. 26 that someone stole the tailgate off his white Chevy pickup truck overnight as it was parked in the 3500 block of Owasso Street.

 

 

St. Anthony

Arrest

An 80-year-old man was arrested in the 3500 block of 37th Avenue NE and booked Nov. 15 at the Hennepin County Jail for an outstanding DWI warrant out of Washington County.

 

Burglary

A 26-year-old man told police Nov. 17 that someone had forced their way into his garage stall at apartments in the 2800 block of Silver Lane. The burglar had gotten in through the wall and stole two skateboards and a pair of hockey skates, a $500 loss.

 

Hit and walk

Officers headed to the intersection of 29th Avenue and Silver Lake Road Nov. 12 on a report of a car accident, and when they arrived, they were told one of the drivers had walked off. They tracked him down, a 45-year-old from St. Anthony, and though he refused a breath test, the man was booked at the Hennepin County Jail for second-degree DWI and third-degree DWI test refusal.

 

Harassment

A trio of women told police Nov. 18 that they'd been approached in the 2500 block of 38th Avenue multiple times by an unknown man who "asked to enter a relationship," per the police report. 

 

Only a ticket?

A 56-year-old man told police that he was riding his bike Nov. 13 in the area of 33rd Avenue NE and Edward Street when he was hit by a person driving a car, who'd blown a stop sign. The man tried to talk to the person but they fled; he declined medical attention. Police tracked down the car and its driver, an 18-year-old woman, who was issued a citation for leaving the scene of an accident.
