Clay gingerbread 

On Dec. 10, from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m., learn about sculpting as you roll balls and mix colors to create fabulous gingerbread people and candy canes at the Inver Glen Library, 8098 Blaine Ave. E. Holiday social

Friends of LeDuc and Historic Hastings will hold its Annual Holiday Social on Dec. 11 at 7 p.m. at the LeDuc Historic Estate, 1629 Vermillion Street, Hastings, MN. The evening will open with a brief meeting of the membership, which will be followed by a musical program performed vocally and instrumentally by Julia and Linnea Ronning, They will present famous English holiday songs. Following the program there will be a social time in the LeDuc dining room. Members are asked to bring an appetizer or dessert to share. This meeting is free and open to the public.

 

South St. Paul Book Club

The group will meet for its monthly meeting Dec. 12 from 1 to 3 p.m., at the library, 106 Third Ave. N., and on Dec. 13 from 7 to 8:30 p.m. This month’s book is “The Year We Left Home” by Jean Thompson.

 

Blood drive

On Dec. 12, Faith United Methodist, 1530 Oakdale Ave., West St. Paul, will host a blood drive from noon to 6 p.m. Eligible donors can find a blood or platelet donation opportunity and schedule an appointment to donate by using the free Blood Donor App, visiting RedCrossBlood.org or calling 1-800-733-2767. Donation appointments and completion of a RapidPass, are encouraged to help speed up the donation process. RapidPass lets donors complete the pre-donation reading and answer the health history questionnaire online, on the day of their donation, from the convenience of a mobile device or computer, or through the Blood Donor App. Those interested in hosting a blood drive can learn more and sign up to sponsor a drive this winter, by visiting RedCrossBlood.org/HostADrive.

 

Legos and Duplos

Get your kids’ imaginations working by exploring the many things they can create with Legos and Duplos. Open to kids ages 2 to 12, this will run from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m., Dec. 14 at the Inver Glen Library, 8098 Blaine Ave. E. Call 651-554-6840 for more information.

 

3D modeling basics

From 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.. Dec. 13, learn how to design your own object using 3-D modeling software. Participants may print completed designs later using a 3-D printer in any Dakota County Library iLAB. Registration is required. Geared for adults, this will take place at the West St. Paul Library, 199 Wentworth Ave. E. Call 651-554-6800 for more information.

 

Painting branches

Challenge your child’s fine motor skills as they experience the challenges of painting a three-dimensional object from nature. Their finished creations will brighten your home throughout the winter. Registration is required for this event on Dec. 13 from 10 to 11 a.m. Open to kids ages 3 to 8, it will take place at the South St. Paul Library, 106 Third Ave. N.

 

Bullet journal workshop

Open to teens ages 11 to 17, learn about bullet journals from 1:30 to 3 p.m., Dec. 15, at the West St. Paul Library, 199 Wentworth Ave. Explore sample layouts and how to embellish them, and start your own journal. Registration is required. Call 651-554-6800 for more information.
