Conway renovations meeting

A meeting about proposed changes to the Conway Recreation Center will take place Monday, Dec. 17 from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the recreation center, which is located at 2090 Conway St. The proposed changes include a dome to be constructed west of the center to allow an indoor walking track and sports field, expanded facility for more classrooms and space, and increased and improved soccer fields for camps and games. Get to Know NAMI

NAMI Minnesota (National Alliance on Mental Illness) will hold a free Get to Know NAMI class on Jan. 9, from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., at NAMI Minnesota, 1919 University Ave., suite 400, in St. Paul.  Meet NAMI staff and volunteers and hear firsthand how NAMI’s work directly affects the lives of children and adults with mental illnesses and their families. Hope for Recovery Workshop 

NAMI Minnesota (National Alliance on Mental Illness) will hold a free, interactive workshop that provides families and individuals with information on mental illnesses, practical coping strategies, and hope for recovery. The workshop will be held at the White Bear Lake District Center, 4855 Bloom Ave., door E, room 201, in White Bear Lake on Saturday, Jan. 12, from 8:30 a.m.  to 2:30 p.m.. Young Adult Mental Health Support Group

Young Adult NAMI Connection (ages 18-30) is a free mental health support group sponsored by NAMI Minnesota (National Alliance on Mental Illness). A group meets in St. Paul on the first and third Sundays of the month from 6:30 to 8:00 p.m., at Unity Church Unitarian, 733 Portland Ave., Owl Room on lower level, St. Paul. Karen New Year celebration

Stop by Washington Tech Magnet School, located at 1495 Rice St., on Tuesday Jan. 1 for the 2758 Karen New Year Celebration. The main program runs from 10 a.m. to noon and entertainment continues from noon to 6 p.m. There will be speeches, men and women volleyball tournaments, a karaoke competition for kids, raffle prizes and an improv competition.
