The Department of Music invites you to the UNW Symphonic Band Concert on Wednesday, April 29, at 7:30 p.m. in Maranatha Hall. Conducted by John S. Herlihy, the Symphonic Band will perform Alfred Reed’s The Hounds of Spring, Redwood by Ryan George and Distorted Images: A Jazzman’s Nightmare by Andrew Boysen, Jr. The concert will also feature John McIntyre’s “Intrada” (I from Voluntaries for Brass Choir), as well as the Woodwind section performing de Cabezón’s Prelude in the Dorian Mode.
Please join the University of Northwestern - St. Paul Jazz Ensemble, directed by John S. Herlihy, on Tuesday, April 28, at 7:30 p.m., in Maranatha Hall. Come and enjoy big band classics such as “Traces,” arranged by Dave Wolpe, Phil Wilson’s “Basically Blues,” and “Us,” by Thad Jones, as well as the vocal stylings of Gabriella Abbott and Mason Henderson. The evening will also feature The UNW Jazz Combo, performing selections written or arranged by our guitarist, Ben Valine.
We cordially invite you to the combined Homecoming Concert on Monday, April 27, at 7:30 p.m., in Maranatha Hall, featuring the Women’s Chorale, conducted by Stephanie Trump and Varsity Men’s Chorus, conducted by Timothy Sawyer. Each will perform pieces presented from their Minnesota spring tours, with Varsity Men’s Chorus visiting to Faribault, Minnesota on March 29-31, and Women’s Chorale touring central Minnesota on April 10-12. This concert is free and open to the public.
It is a student-organized event to raise awareness for the Minnesota DAV and to put on a fun 5k for friends and families to get together in support of a good cause. All proceeds from the race will go to the Minnesota DAV so they can provide transportation, outdoor programs, and employment services for local veterans!

The New Brighton/Mounds View Rotary Club will be holding its annual fundraiser, The Gold Plate Dinner, on Friday, April 24, 2015, at The Mermaid Entertainment Center in Mounds View. There will be a social hour beginning at 6 p.m., dinner beginning at 7 p.m., a silent auction, bingo and over $2,00 in raffle cash beginning at 8 p.m. The theme of this year's event is "The Roaring 20's." Costumes to be admired but not required!

On Tuesday, April 21, at 7:30 p.m., UNW instrumental chamber ensembles, including Chamber Winds, Percussion Ensemble, Saxophone Ensemble, String Quartet, String Trio, and Flute Choir. This inspiring student chamber recital is always a favorite, and this spring is a perfect time to be refreshed in the beautiful surroundings of Nazareth Chapel. Free and open to the public.
