Another chapter was added on Tuesday to the story of the athletic rivalry between Roseville Area High School and White Bear Lake Area High School. This section started out well for the Raiders but finished with a tough ending.
The Irondale High School girls hockey team upset a pair of ranked teams to make it to the state tournament but was unable to add Minnetonka to its list of high-profile victims. Unlike Blaine and Mounds View, the Skippers didn't allow Irondale to dictate play or stick close on the scoreboard.
The Roseville Area High School girls hockey advanced to the section final for the fifth consecutive season by beating Stillwater 2-1 in the Section 4AA semifinals on Tuesday. The Raiders will take on top-seeded Hill-Murray on Friday at 8 p.m. at Aldrich Arena.
It'll be an all-District 621 affair at Roseville Arena on Friday in the Section 5AA girls hockey championship game. Top-seeded Mounds View and sixth-seeded Irondale square off at 7:30 p.m. with a trip to the state tournament on the line.
The Roseville Area High School girls basketball team brings its 20-game winning streak to Park-Cottage Grove on Tuesday but something even bigger than the streak is also on the line. The Raiders can clinch the Suburban East Conference championship with a victory over the Wolfpack.
