SafeZone 20th Anniversary Open House 10-07

The 20th Anniversary Open House is a free event designed to bring renewed attention to the issue of youth homelessness and solutions, showcase youth successes, and celebrate SafeZone’s history. Highlights will include remarks by State Representative Tim Mahoney, an interactive tour of the drop-in center, youth performance and photo exhibit, video, and an exhibit of portraits of SafeZone youth by photographer Xavier Tavara. The powerful portraits are the result of a collaborative project between Gudrun Lock, Adjunct Professor at Minneapolis College of Art and Design, Mr. Tavara, and several SafeZone youth to “reimagine” original paintings by European masters with SafeZone youth as subjects.
