ISD 197 school board elections: nine candidates, four seats
On Nov. 3 residents of West St. Paul, Mendota Heights and part of Eagan will have the opportunity to select a majority of the ISD 197 school board.
The terms of current school board members Brenda Corbett, Joanne Mansur, Byron Schwab and Mark Spurr are set to expire Dec. 31. All but Spurr are running for re-election.
A handful of ISD 197’s early childhood learning programs will be relocating to a building at 1970 Christensen Avenue in West St. Paul for the upcoming school year, to accommodate an increase in overall enrollment. (Review graphic)
As the current school year winds down with final exams, field trips and graduation ceremonies, District 197 is preparing for a bulge in incoming classes this fall — classes whose students may not graduate until 2029 or 2030.
Eric Friberg, a biology teacher at Henry Sibley High in School District 197, has been selected as a recipient of the 2015 WEM Outstanding Educator Award for Teacher Achievement, an honor that is accompanied by a $15,000 award.
Gina Smethers and Micah Klotz of Inver Grove Heights Community Schools will be recognized as TIES Exceptional Teachers at the TIES 2014 Education Technology Conference at the Minneapolis Hyatt Regency on Dec. 9.
