The Hill-Murray girls soccer team entered the state tournament as the No. 4 seed and finished one place higher than that seed. The Pioneers went 2-1 in their three tournament games and brought home the third-place trophy.
Hill-Murray and Holy Angels were clearly the top two volleyball teams in Section 4AA and they met the in finals last week. The match went four sets, two of which were close and the other two not so much.
The first round of the Section 4AAAA football playoffs turned out to be the end of the 2016 road for North and Tartan. Both teams were on the road in the quarterfinals on Oct. 25 and couldn’t get past a pair of big city foes.
The North High School volleyball team wrapped up one championship earlier this month and begins the chase for another this week. The Polars open the section playoffs on Thursday, Oct. 27, with a home match.
The Hill-Murray football team headed into the playoffs a year ago having not won a regular-season game. The Pioneers went on to upset New Life Academy in the quarterfinals for their only victory of the season.
The North High School football team needs to have a short memory as it heads into the post-season this week. The regular season didn’t go well at all and the Polars especially need to forget about week eight as they prepare for the playoffs.
