Jake Kubiatowicz entered the state track and field meet as the No. 2 seed in the discus and it appeared he had some work to do to overcome the top seed. It turned out that Kubiatowicz got the heavy lifting done early.
Two of the three Review-area high schools have individuals competing in the state golf tournaments this week. Hill-Murray is sending a boy and a girl to the Class AA tournament while North had one boy qualify in Class AAA.
The Hill-Murray boys golf team enters the 2016 season as the defending Metro East Conference champion. The Pioneers return only two letter winners from last year’s squad so there are some unknowns this spring.
Hill-Murray was the highest seed and put together the longest stay in the post-season of the three Review-area high school baseball teams. At press time for this edition of the Review, the Pioneers were 2-1 in the Section 4AAAA tournament.
The North High School track and field teams are set to have representation at the state meet later this week. The Polars amassed seven entries via performances at the Section 4AA meet last week at East Ridge High School.
The Tartan boys and Hill-Murray girls lacrosse teams have their sights set on a trip to the state tournament and took the first step toward that goal last week. Both teams rolled in their playoff openers.
