The North St. Paul American Legion Post 39 baseball team was locked in a pitchers’ duel with the White Bear Lake Post 168 Lakers before emerging a 3-2 winner in District IV league play at White Bear Lake High School Tuesday, June 24.

The Tri-City Post 513 Red American Legion baseball team faced the North St. Paul 39ers at Kuenkel Field Wednesday, June 25 for a crucial District IV league game.

Pitching is the foundation of any championship baseball team and the Mounds View High School squad showed why during the state tournament. The Mustangs gave up just one run over 21 innings to claim their second consecutive state title.
Following a pair of wins in doubleheader action at Kuenkel Field in North St. Paul, the North St. Paul American Legion Post 39 baseball team headed up north to participate in the 39th Annual Grand Rapids Tournament.

State tournament notebook
For the second straight year, Target Field was a hospitable host to the Mounds View High School baseball team. The Mustangs have played there twice and are 2-0 on the major league diamond.
This year’s team won the Class AAA state title with a 9-0 victory over Eden Prairie. A year ago, the Mustangs beat Rocori 8-0 to claim the crown.
