Morning bird hikes will be offered at Washington County parks in October, including on Free Tuesdays in the parks.

A hike will be 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 7, at Big Marine Park Reserve. This hike coincides with Free Tuesdays, when no park vehicle permit is required to enter Washington County Parks on the first Tuesday of the month.

The program meets at the playground. Bring binoculars and dress for the weather. The walk will be one mile on easy turf and paved trails; children must be accompanied by an adult. If there is light rain, a modified program will be at the beach building.

Lake Elmo Park Reserve is at the intersection of County Road 19 and County Road 10 (one mile north of Interstate 94) in Lake Elmo. It is a free program with park permit ($5/day or $25/annual). Call 651-430-8370 or see www.co.washington.mn.us/parks for additional information on this and other programs.

Big Marine Park Reserve is on Manning Trail (County State Aid Highway 15) a half mile north of 170th Street (County State Aid Highway 4) in May Township at 17495 Manning Trail N., Marine on St. Croix.
