Oakdale Cub Scout pack national finalist for 2007 Gold Medallion Award

Cub Scout Pack 240 was recently honored as a national finalist for the 2006 Gold Medallion Unit Award. The Gold Medallion is the highest unit award from the National Catholic Committee on Scouting. Pack 240 was the national winner in 2005.

Parents invited to learn signs of student drug use

Chris Erickson, a controlled substances consultant with CD Training Consultants, will host a presentation on student drug use Monday, April 23 for parents to attend. The Oak-Land Junior High School PTA and the Stillwater High School Wellness Center invite the community to the event.

County to purchase property for Big Marine Park Reserve

The Washington County Board of Commissioners approved the purchase of the last piece of property needed within the 2007-2008 Big Marine Park Reserve construction area. The Hohlt property is a one and a half acre parcel off Lisbon Avenue, adjacent to Lomond Trail North in May Township.

Civil War artifacts sought for exhibit

The Soldiers and Sailors monument on the grounds of the Historic Courthouse in Stillwater will be cleaned, restored and a new patina will be applied later this spring. A rededication of the monument is scheduled at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, July 4.
