A business plan workshop for those planning a new business, and very helpful for those currently in business, will be held Nov. 30 at the East Campus of Century College, 3300 Century Ave. N., White Bear Lake. The event is presented by SCORE, Counselors to America’s Small Business.
Local author Anne Dimock will read from her book “Humble Pie” at RH Stafford Branch Library, 8595 Central Park Pl. in Woodbury, on Thursday, Dec. 1 at 7 p.m. Folksy and full of humor, “Humble Pie” is part memoir, part food writing and part social commentary.
Matthew Prokosch of Lake Elmo and Shannon Carroll of Stillwater announce their engagement to be married. Matthew is the son of Fred and Susan Prokosch and Shannon is the daughter of David and Kathy Carroll. The wedding is set for Dec. 31.
The Tartan volleyball team spent Nov. 3 with very mixed emotions. The Titans had come from a funeral for departed classmate Aaron Fowler and, with saddened hearts, entered South St. Paul for the finals of the Section 3AAA volleyball tournament.
The Washington County Board of Commissioners appointed Lake Elmo resident Dave Bucheck and Afton resident Don Scheel to the Valley Branch Watershed District Board of Directors. Both will serve three-year terms.
The Washington County Board of Commissioners accepted a grant from the U.S. Department of Justice in conjunction with Oak-Land Junior High to hire a full-time School Resource Deputy to be stationed at the Lake Elmo-based school. The grant comes through the federal COPS in Schools Program.
