With over 80 active members and a shared vision for success, the St. Anthony Area Chamber of Commerce continuously advocates for a thriving business community.

The Chamber aims to foster a healthy economic climate that encourages growth and prosperity in both the business and residential sectors. Its primary function is to support the efforts of all businesses to attract customers, while promoting the St. Anthony area as a top place in Minnesota to do business.

The Chamber also helps foster a sense of community and sponsors several civic events that provide opportunities for area residents to socialize and have fun.

Member benefits

The Chamber meets monthly to connect members from over 60 local businesses, and city, county and state officials.

Lunch meetings are held at various locations in the St. Anthony area on the third Tuesday of every month, except August, and are designed to keep members up-to-date on Chamber activities and changes within the city. The meetings also feature insightful presentations by guest speakers, with plenty of time for networking.

Businesses interested in hosting a meeting should contact the Chamber for details. To attend a meeting, RSVP by noon on the Monday before a meeting by contacting St. Anthony Area Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Kelly Salseg at or 612-782-8786.

Salseg notes the Chamber welcomes new members and membership is not exclusive to St. Anthony city limits. Some membership benefits include opportunities to grow your business, such as: listings in the Chamber’s business directory, member mailing list, website and event calendar; the opportunity to attend groundbreakings, grand openings and ribbon-cutting ceremonies for new businesses, as well as event sponsorships.

“It’s a great networking opportunity to get to know other members of the local business community,” Salseg says. “I’ve been with the Chamber for six years and have met the majority of the people I know in St. Anthony Village through the Chamber.”

Giving back to the community

The Chamber is not only committed to advocating for local businesses, but also to giving back to the community through several chamber-sponsored events, such as: participation in the city’s favorite summertime festival, Village Fest; a local candidate forum during campaign season; a holiday lighting contest; the Chamber’s annual golf classic; an annual scholarship program which provides financial aid to St. Anthony High School seniors who are active volunteers and want to pursue careers in business; and the “Adopt A Family” program.

Every holiday season, Chamber members and volunteers partner with other organizations in the city to collect funds for needy families in St. Anthony through the “Adopt A Family” program.

“There is true need in our community,” Chamber President Jodi Saeko says. “All the families which are helped through the Adopt A Family program are in our school district.”

Chamber Board Member Tony Fragnito says participating in the program has been a humbling experience over the years.

“These kids are not asking for toys usually. They’re asking for a coat or a scarf for their mom.”

Families create a wish list, and volunteers shop for items on the list. The majority are basic necessities, but volunteers will typically include something fun for the family as well.

Salseg notes every dollar collected goes toward providing gifts for families in the community. Last year, the program was successful in providing for six St. Anthony families.

Villager and Business of the Year

With so many members of the St. Anthony community committed to giving back, the Chamber seeks to recognize the efforts of those who go “above and beyond.”

Every year since the early 1990s, the Chamber has honored a resident and a business in the Village that have made outstanding contributions to improve the quality of life in the community. Award winners are announced at the Chamber’s annual meeting held each April.

Food, fun and games at Touch-A-Truck in St. Anthony

Last year the St. Anthony Village Chamber of Commerce and the Silver Lake Village Shopping Center hosted a Touch-A-Truck event for kids. The family-friendly event was a hit, drawing nearly 2,000 people out to Silver Lake Village that Saturday afternoon.

The Chamber already has plans in place for this year’s event to be held in the same location on Saturday, Sept. 13, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.

The Touch-A-Truck event is free and gives kids an opportunity to get up close and personal with several types of trucks, emergency service vehicles and heavy equipment.

“We hope to add a few more things this year, such as a mounted patrol unit and a police K9 demonstration,” says Fragnito, who chairs the event.

Additionally, the event will feature face-painters, balloon-twisters and bouncy houses.

“Kids don’t often get the chance to see emergency vehicles or talk with emergency personnel when not in a time of crisis,” Fragnito explains. “Touch-A-Truck gives kids that chance while having fun.”

Golf Classic

The Annual Village Fest Golf Classic is slated for Friday, Aug. 1, and will begin with a shotgun start at noon. This event is open to the public and will be held at Francis A. Gross Golf Course. Money raised at the tournament helps fund several Chamber-sponsored events and initiatives, such as: “Adopt A Family,” academic scholarships and other local school programs, as well as St. Anthony’s favorite summertime festival, Village Fest.

The tournament is for golfers of all skill levels and singles, pairs, threesomes and foursomes are all welcome. Player and hole sponsorship opportunities are available.
