Inquiring minds: Does my library card give me access to other libraries as well?

Each week the staff at the Roseville Library answers more than 2,500 questions on every subject under the sun. Here are some of the most interesting ones they’ve gotten lately.

Q. Does my Ramsey County Library card give me access to other libraries as well?

A.  Yes, Minnesota libraries believe in sharing their resources, and your library card can give you access to many public libraries throughout the Metro Area and the rest of the state. All you need to do is present your Ramsey County library card and a photo ID with your current address to the library system you want to use. Staff at the other library will enter your information in their patron database, and you’ll be ready to use their system.
Although there are some exclusions for e-books and selected online databases, in general you will be able to check out materials from other libraries and make use of most of their services. You should check with staff at the Library you wish to join if you have specific questions about their policies.
