iPad basics

On Monday, March 28 from 6 to 8 p.m., stop by the South St. Paul Public Library, 106 Third Ave. N., to learn how to use your iPad. 

This class is designed for new iPad users who need help learning the basics of using the iPad. Topics covered in the class included: navigation, all about apps and basic troubleshooting. 

Attendees should bring their own iPad along with their Apple ID. Registration is required for each person. Please arrive at least five minutes early. Late arrivals can lose their registration spot.

Learn about the amazing lives of frogs, toads, salamanders and other Minnesota amphibians on Thursday, March 31, from 2 to 2:45 p.m. at the West St. Paul Library.  

Attendees will even get to meet a few live creatures at this program presented by the Dodge Nature Center staff. 

The West St. Paul Library is located at 199 Wentworth Ave. E. 


St. Croix Lutheran spring musical

St. Croix Lutheran students in grades six to 12 will present the classic musical comedy “Bye Bye Birdie” at 7 p.m. Friday, April 1, and Saturday, April 2, and at 2 p.m. Sunday, April 3. 

Tickets at the door will be $8 for adults, $5 for students and seniors, and $4 for children in grades eight and under. 

Tickets can also be purchased online at StCroixLutheran.org/Birdie.

Good Samaritan Society fundraiser

The Good Samaritan Society-Inver Grove Heights will be hosting its annual spring brunch and silent auction starting at 10 a.m. Saturday, April 2, at the Mendakota Country Club, 2075 Mendakota Drive in Mendota Heights.

Pianist Lynn Brownell will provide entertainment. Many baskets and items will be on display to bid on during the silent auction.

All proceeds will be going toward the purchase of a whirlpool bathing spa.


Addiction and recovery

On Sunday, April 3 at 9:45 a.m., Martha Wegner and her son David will give a presentation at Augustana Lutheran Church, 1400 S. Robert St. 

The talk, “From Despair to Detachment: One Family’s Journey Through Their Son’s Addiction and Recovery,” is based on Wegners’ new book, “Dear David: Dealing with my son’s Addiction One Letter at a Time.” 

Martha will discuss her family’s journey through the difficult time of David walking away from treatment and losing contact with family members. She will also highlight letters from her book, followed by a question-and-answer session with Martha and David. 

The same presentation will be given at First Presbyterian Church, 535 20th Ave. N., South St. Paul, on Sunday, April 17.


Memorial Bowl

David C. Zins Veterans Memorial Bowl will take place on Sunday, April 3, from 1 to 4 p.m. Check-in is at noon at Drkula’s 32, 6710 Cahill Ave., Inver Grove Heights. 

Money raised at the bowling event will be donated to either the Wounded Warriors Project or the Semper Fi Foundation. Cost is $10 for two games and show rentals. There will be raffle strike shots for Gary Sinise autographed items, 25-inch TV and other donated items. Former Vikings player Rickey Young will be present.
