League discusses Minnesota’s next steps to a clean-energy economy

In observance of Earth Day, the Roseville Area League of Women Voters will host a symposium celebrating steps Minnesota is taking toward energy efficiency as they affect air and water quality and our economy through lower costs and job creation.  Featured speaker is acclaimed climate and energy policy expert J. Drake Hamilton, Fresh Energy science policy director. She will highlight how solar and geothermal usage can affect a typical home in our community. The Tuesday, April 17, meeting will be held from 6:30 to 8 p.m. at Prince of Peace Lutheran Church, 2561 Victoria St. N, Roseville.  The event is free and open to the public.


Time to get outdoors

Oakdale Wellness 50+, an health and fitness initiative for residents ages 50 and older,  is hosting a presentation Saturday, April 14, from 10:30 to noon at the Oakdale Discovery Center, 4444 Hadley Ave. that highlights getting outside to enjoy nature and how it affects the mind, body and soul. The presenter is Randall Thoreson, Department of the Interior Outdoor Recreation planner who is with the National Park Service. Phalen Senior Men’s Golf League

The Phalen Senior Men’s Golf League invites new members age 50 and older to join. The group plays 18 holes every Tuesday from 7:30 a.m. to 10 a.m., May through Sept. Victorian Tea at historic courthouse

The Victorian Tea, a tradition at the Washington County Historic Courthouse, will be noon to 2 p.m. Saturday, April 28. The Historic Courthouse is at the corner of Third and Pine streets in Stillwater. Proceeds from the tea go to the Historic Courthouse Restoration Fund. Victorian Tea tickets are $40 each and include an afternoon of catered food and tea music, conversation, charming table settings and a program by the Minnesota Historical Society. Z Juggling Rosenschnoz

The Lake Elmo Library will be hosting a juggling performance Saturday, April 14, from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. Mixing tricks with innocence, Chris Griffith charms audiences of all ages with his juggling and physical comedy. With deceptively simple flair, he gives flight to spheres, fire and hilarity. The Lake Elmo Library is located at 3537 Lake Elmo Ave. N.
