Civic Literacy 101 series

Civics affects us every day, but its mechanics are often ignored or forgotten. Educating or reminding yourself of the structure and rules of government gives you the ability to become part of the decision-making process and create a positive impact on your government. Join Do Good Roseville and the League of Women Voters Roseville Area for a new series at the Roseville Library, 2180 Hamline Ave. N.


• City & County Government, Tuesday, March 5, 7-8:30 p.m.

This session will cover the structure of local city and county governments. Presenters will cover the basic structure of the local government, who plays each role in the government and the duties and responsibilities of each. Presenters are Roseville Mayor Dan Roe and City Manager Pat Trudgeon, as well as the Ramsey County Manager Ryan O’Connor. Find out how to give power to your voice and enrich our democracy.


• State Government, Tuesday, April 2, 7-8:30 p.m.

This session will cover government at the state level. Presenters will help discuss the structure and roles that determine the rules and regulations for how Minnesota is governed. The presenter is Nick Harper, civic engagement director for the League of Women Voters of Minnesota. With an understanding of how it all works, you will understand how you can impact how things can be changed, debated and put into action.
