Art Styles of Masters

Use oil or chalk pastels and colored and graphite pencils to make small, modernist drawings based upon images of flowers or found objects and inspired by Georgia O’Keeffe and other American Modernist artists. Lego build tournament

Compete against fellow Lego enthusiasts to complete building challenges and win the title of Lego Build Champion. Registration is required, and this is open to kids ages 5 to 12. It will take place March 4 from 4 to 5 p.m., at the Inver Glen Library, 8098 Blaine Ave. E. Call 651-554-6840 for more information.

 

Nature painting

Explore nature through art. Learn new painting skills or practice the ones you have in a relaxing creative environment. You will learn about nature, and take a little piece of it home with you in the form of an acrylic painting on canvas. Water soluble acrylic paint will be used, which may not come out of clothing once dry, painting shirts admired. This will run from 6:30 to 8 p.m., March 4 at Dodge Nature Center’s Farm Entrance 3, 1701 Charlton St., West St. Paul. The cost is $20. Astronomy

From 1:30 to 3 p.m., March 8, learn about the billions of stars in the night sky, how to identify constellations, how meteors are formed and other space science with Dakota County Parks. Registration is required. Open to kids ages 8 to 12, this will take place at the Inver Glen Library, 8098 Blaine Ave. E. Call 651-554-6840 for more information.

 

Hope boutique

The third annual Hope Boutique will be held March 9 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., at Bethesda Lutheran Church, 2855 47th St. E., Inver Grove Heights. All of the table registrations will directly benefit The American Cancer Society IGH, SSP, WSP Relay for Life in October. Confirmed crafters include Minnesoapa, Redbird Embroidery Etc., original paintings, Goodturn coffee, Dad’s Kickbutt BBQ, wooden birdhouses, children’s’ wooden toys, Hand Towels, Scrubbies, Pot Holders, Knitted Slippers, crocheted items, beeswax lip balm, homemade honey and more. There will also be breakfast and lunch items for sale.

 

Pancake breakfast

From 8 to 10:30 a.m., March 9, enjoy pancakes and pure maple syrup with friends from the community. Explore this Minnesota tradition of maple syrup-ing with a naturalist-led hike to learn about the process of maple sap collection and syrup production. This is a free event, walk-ins are welcome, and donations are appreciated. This will take place at Garlough Environmental Magnet Elementary School, 1740 Charlton St., West St. Paul.

Take your Sphero skills to the next level using the SPRK app and test your skills on our Sphero obstacle course. This will be open to kids ages 11 to 17 from 2 to 4 p.m., March 9 at the Wentworth Library, 199 Wentworth Ave.
