Libraries offer more monsters

Reverend Mattís Monster Science returns to the Ramsey County Library in Shoreview this spring.

The first event on March 18 is entitled ìHere Be Dragonsî and will cover a global history of the creature, including Europe, China and among the American First Nations.

That will be at 7 p.m. at the library in Shoreview, 4560 Victoria St. N.

A second event is scheduled for April 19 and is called ìA Memoir of Mammoths and Mastodons.î From the press release: Elephantine mammals have come in an astonishing variety of forms in their tens of millions of years on earth: small, immense, woolly, hairy, and equipped with many different kinds of tusks. Learn about their history, and the bizarre ways that humans have understood and related to them. Were they really considered giant moles? Who ate mammoth meat? And which Founding Father hoped to find living woolly elephants in North America?

That event is also at 7 p.m. and takes place at the library in Roseville, which is 2180 Hamline Ave. N.
