NEWSBRIEF: Dakota County Library keeps kids reading this summer

Kids can enjoy a fun-filled summer with activities and prizes offered through Dakota County Library’s Summer Discovery program. Participants will read, write, draw and play, all while building or improving their reading and learning skills.

Summer Discovery has a variety of engaging activities designed to keep pre-readers, readers and teens engaged while school is out. After completing activities, participants will earn a free book and can enter to win prizes, including Minnesota Twins or State Fair tickets. Prizes may be picked up July 1 through Sept. 1. Teens who participate will also earn a free ticket to Cascade Bay Waterpark for Teen Takeover on Aug. 7.

Summer Discovery is for kids from birth through grade 12. Register at www.dakotacounty.us/library, search “Summer Discovery”, or by visiting Dakota County Library locations, excluding Heritage Library, through Aug. 17.

Kids ages 12 to 18 are also invited to become a Summer Discovery Volunteen. Volunteens assist with registration for the Summer Discovery program as well as summer events. For more information, visit www.dakotacounty.us, search “Summer Discovery Volunteen.”
