The afternoon of Friday, Feb. 13, the Ramsey County Attorney's Office charged Leb Mike Meak with murder in the second-degree in connection with the Feb. 12 beating death of an 18-month-old girl under his care at his home in Maplewood.

More than 350,000 visitors walked through its doors in 2014, says deputy director for Ramsey County libraries Sandy Walsh, making it the second busiest location in the Ramsey County library system.

Mayor hopes for help from legislature

The potholes along Snowshoe Lane in Maplewood are a bit less obvious with snow packed like cement inside them, but gravel-like remnants of the crumbling pavement reveal its poor condition.
"Snowshoe is in pretty rough shape. It's just deteriorating," says Mayor Nora Slawik, looking out the car window on a tour of the city's local transportation needs with the city engineer and a representative of Move MN, a state-wide coalition advocating for more transportation funding.

Coleman takes the reins in Maplewood

After a seven-year absence, Melinda Coleman returned to Maplewood in August 2013 to the same job she’d left: community development director and assistant city manager. After former City Manager Chuck Ahl retired April 30, Coleman filled the gap on an interim basis. She’s now been named City Manager by a unanimous vote of the city council.

Woman forced to drive to empty lot by would-be rapist
